"To Dance With God!" Workshop Looks for God in the Everyday
(Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 13-14, Bethany Lutheran Church, Seattle WA)
This workshop explores the closeness of the Holy in everyday life. Sessions include "Celebrating the Holy in the Ordinary," "The Art of Living," and a team project "Taking This Home" session. Speaker Gertrud Mueller Nelson is an artist in stained class and silver design, mother of three, and a former Montessori teacher and high school teacher. Wise, whimsical, prayerful, and playful, she will lead these workshops on ritual, ceremony, art, and the Holy in a unique, engaging way. Leaders in Congregations Conference
(Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 9-11, Atlanta GA)
Is your congregation a place that inspires young people to ask what they will do with their lives as followers of Jesus Christ? Come to the 2008 Calling Congregations Conference and learn how to create a culture of call that raises the next generation of leaders for the church. Keynote speaker Kenda Creasy Dean is an ordained United Methodist pastor and Associate Professor of Youth, Church and Culture at Princeton Theological Seminary. She is the author of several books on young people and the church, including Practicing Passion: Youth and the Quest for a Passionate Church. Workshops will provide practical ideas, helpful skills, and new perspectives to improve the capacity to cultivate a young person's sensitivity to God's call. Registration is $200 (discounts for groups and lay ministers) and is due by September 2.

LENS provides leadership in: brokering, coordinating, visioning,
facilitating, publicizing,
and supporting leadership development and theological education opportunities for professional staff and laity on behalf of the Alaska, Eastern Washington/Idaho, Northwest Washington, Oregon, and Southwestern Washington Synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Northwest District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS).

LENS coordinates continuing education activities for the Affiliated Learning Partners, a partnership that also includes Concordia University, Luther Seminary, Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, Pacific Lutheran University, and Trinity Lutheran College.

LENS serves as Denominational Coordinator for Lutheran students at the Institute for Ecumenical Studies in the School for Theology and Ministry at Seattle University.  Contact Pastor Nancy Winder  (pastor@faithseattle.org) for more information.
